Chapter 69

Moon had walked into the gate to see Jennifer furiously kissing Victor just in front of the pack house, his hands were tightly gripping both sides of her waist, returning the kiss with the same fervor.
'Victor?" Moon called without thinking.
It should have hurt but it didn't, it only confirmed her suspicion, completing the disappointment she felt for him.
Jennifer had turned to look at her with mocking eyes and a sneer on her lips.
'What is she doing here?" She had asked Victor whose eyes glued to Moon's flat belly.
'I thought she was dead or something." She continued, fully turning to face Moon now, her body obstructing Victor from having a full view of Moon.
'Go ahead, I will see you inside," Victor ordered.
'Who?" Jennifer turned back to look at him, her back facing Moon.
Moon scoffed, she didn't wait to be given an audience. 'You kept promising to visit but this is what you spend time doing after all your promises."
'Excuse me?" Jennifer's face was full of irritation. She made to move forward, but Victor held her shoulder.
'I birthed our son, but I guess you don't need him," Moon informed; her face was emotionless as she watched Jennifer's face morph into an ugly frown.
'What did she say?" Her eyes widened as she turned slowly to look at Victor, whose gaze on Moon got intense.
Not waiting for them to get back at her, she left, her shoulders squared, and her face raised high. A satisfactory smile graced her lips when she heard Jennifer's raised voice behind her.

'Where have you been?" Zell, who was pacing in front of the house, stopped.
'To see him, why?"
'Moon! What has gotten into you!?"
'You gave me a go-ahead before now, remember?"
'That didn't mean you should go, I was trying to prove a point!" Zell's eyes widened, he wasn't looking at her anymore.
'Why…"
'What was that Moon?" Victor's angry voice hit her ears.
'Is that how you come to visit your son? Angry?" She turned to look at him with an unbelievable look on her face.
'I said to lay low." His voice was controlled, and his eyes didn't spare her.
'For how long!?" Moon yelled.
'You didn't come to see me, not once during my pregnancy." She felt suffocated as the words left her lips.
'You know nothing." He spat.
'I don't even want to know." She looked away.
'Where is he?"
'Why? So you can take him for yourself?"
'Dream on, I won't permit it." She took a fighting stance.
'For your information, I don't think I would have anything to do with you anymore. I love Zell now, so I would appreciate it if you leave now and not come back." Her mouth ran without control.
Zell's eyes widened out of horror. He looked at the defiant Moon and the narrow-eyed Victor. In a blink of an eye, Victor was behind Zell's back; he didn't have the opportunity to yell or explain; his head was severed from his neck, spouting blood everywhere.
Moon went pale, she was trembling after seeing Zell's headless body fall to the floor, his head on Victor's hand still looking her way with wide eyes as if not understanding why he was killed.
'Henceforth, you are banned from stepping your feet into my pack or the Silverstone Pack." Victor heartlessly said, throwing the head to the floor.
Moon looked at him without uttering a word, she could not bring herself to look at Zell's body.
Victor stared at the shocked Moon for a bit before turning away and entering the room to see his son, who just started crying. He had his hand clenched and his breath uneven, he had to do what he did to keep her interest in him.
He could not bear to look at his face for longer, and he didn't want to face Moon either, so he disappeared directly from the room.

Victor visited after two months. He expected to see Moon and give his son a name, but he met with an empty house, and everything else was still intact.
'Moon?" He called.
Victor could not believe that his heart was beginning to sink into his stomach.
'MOON!" He yelled, kicking the door open, but there was no sign of her, only a dust-filled and musty-smelling house.
This time, his heart sank to the pit of his stomach. This was not what it was supposed to be. This wasn't what he planned for.
He walked around the house to see a little lift in the soil at the side of the house. He touched it and could smell death.
'She buried him herself?" Victor thought aloud, closing his eyes for a bit to think.
Standing up, he strengthened his resolve. He would get her back, and there was nothing anyone would do about that.

Moon, who had settled into an abandoned room barely good enough to be lived in, vowed to raise her son herself and not ask for help no matter how tough it got.
In the space of nine years, she started feeling herself get weak without knowing the reason. She became a burden on her young son as she watched him grow into a replica of his father, the yellow pupils always bringing back the memories she wished to forget.
He not only looked like him, he acted like him in every way. Liam came back one of these days bruised, the left side of his face swollen and most parts of his body full of cuts.
'Liam!" She had screamed at seeing him drag himself to the doorstep.
'Mama." He greeted, presenting a note bill.
Her eyes watered seeing what was on his hand, she got furious.
'What were you doing to get beaten up this bad?" She yelled at him, her hands on her waist.
'I brought home some money." His eyes watered, he could be strong enough to face his peers but could not withstand his mother's yell.
'Did you steal it?" Moon's heart broke as she asked the question.
'Mama, I cleaned." Liam faced the ground, sniffed, and wiped his teary eyes.
'Then why?" She wasn't done with the question when Liam walked past her into the house.
She heard some snorts and looked ahead to see a few rough-looking teenagers stare at her door before turning back.
This became their normal life till it got to the extent that she could no longer walk on her own while Liam grew stronger, becoming the nightmare of every street child.
She noticed his power first and thought it was wise to tell him about his father.
'You need to find him, Son," Moon told her uninterested son in a shaky voice.
'No," Liam responded quickly, his hand holding a bloodstained faded towel, ready to wipe his mother's lips if she coughed again.
'I feel…"
'Stop it, Mum! You won't die! I will do everything it takes to make sure you don't die!" Liam yelled in pain.
He got strong at a young age, he got exposed and learned to be mature before 9, but the childish part of him didn't leave.
'Find your father… *cough*… find Alpha Victor." Moon was wheezing this time.
'He should have found us first if he wanted to." Liam pouted looking at the bad condition of his mother.
'Mama, I'm out!" He stood up and dashed out of the house before Moon could stop him.
He dashed in again with a card of a yellow-looking tablet.
'Mama, drugs."
'You should stop stealing."
'You need drugs Mama." Liam's face morphed into a sorrowful squeeze.
'You hate your Dad for what he does, but you are doing the same thing," Moon said slowly, her eyes looking at the rotting ceiling; she could not bear to look at herself in the mirror.
'Mama, drugs." The 7-year-old Liam insisted even when his nose had snot coming out of it.

Two years later, Liam is forced to leave his dying mother with the aim of getting help from his father, but when he locates the pack after a stressful search and questions, it is a different story.
'Lock him up!" The Luna, who had a little daughter with her, yelled at the guards to Liam's astonishment.
'Alpha Victor, I came to see Alpha Victor. My mum is dying!" Liam shouted to the best of his ability.
He could have simply used his powers but he refused to. There is no way in a lifetime he would end up like his father.
'Your mum?" Jennifer, who could already tell who Liam was, smiled joyfully.
'She should have been dead a long time ago." The harshest thing to say to a pained child.
'Lock him up, and don't breathe a word to the Alpha." She added.
'And what is that?" The unexpected visitor asked.
