He held her eyes, she looked deep into his with strong resolve, her hands fisting tightly on her dress.

He nodded slowly, his head hardly moving.

She stood firm, before stepping closer to him but not close enough to touch him. 'I don't need your nods Alpha Victor of an unknown pack and a Gamma to Alpha Rex, I need your words"

'Do you love me!?" Her head was raised slightly to look into his eyes.

'If I didn't, I wouldn't allow you to escape." He responded, trying to shake his eyes off hers.

'If I didn't, I would have had you abort it." He pointed to her womb, a subtle frown settling on his face.

'That doesn't answer my question, Victor." She was getting worked up as time passed by.

'Yes!" He yelled, holding his hair, he was losing it.

'Then fulfill your promise." She came closer.

'Claim me publicly." She bent her head to look at his averted eyes.

'Reject her! I am with your child."

He smiled like a mad man, his yellow orbs were blazing now as he took a predatory step towards her.

'Keep yelling about that thing in your stomach and watch it leave without seconds." His palm squeezed her jaw, looking intensely at her.

'It hurt…"

'I don't need to do anything to you, she will do it and I'd just watch from the sidelines. I have a whole pack to protect." He let go of her forcefully and she gasped, rubbing her now aching jaw.

'I love you but it's easy to unlove you if you go about yapping about this thing in your stomach." He stepped away from her and she could only stare in silence, tears flowing freely from her eyes.

'If you are sensible enough, leave. I'll support you from the sidelines till it's time to bring you in." He turned his back to her teary face.

'Leave tonight." He said before stepping out of her door.

Moon found herself in a squatting position, her right hand pressing against her chest as she bit her left wrist to hold her heart-wrenching sobs.

This was not how she envisioned their future, being elevated from the position of a maidservant to that of an ordinary wolf made her hope for the future. Now, she couldn't see any future and it was difficult to hope for one but she still stood up and packed up nevertheless.

Sitting on the corner of her unmade bed with bloodshot eyes, she held her aching stomach and kept rocking back and forth, her eyes looking at the empty wall, a reflection of her mental state.

She winced at the sharp pain in her stomach, then jolted when her window was forced open.

'Let's go." Came a gruff voice from the now-opened window.

Moon directed her gaze to the shadow-like figure squatting on her window like a thief.

'There's no time to waste! Move!" His voice was getting agitated.

He had no patience, and she sensed danger oozing from every pore in his body. She tried standing up, but the world reeled, and she found herself on the floor.

Grunting, he jumped down, landing on the floor as soundlessly and agile as a cat.

'I have no time for weak wolves. How did you manage to get the Alpha hooked? You should have gotten it flushed out of your system." He complained, roughly taking her up from the ground.

Moon watched him contemplate between taking her through the window or the door.

'Aarrgh! It's annoying having to take this risk." He quickly led her through the door, and she had to hasten her steps to match his.

Moon stepped into the hallway and the festive mood made her stomach hurt even more. She stopped and squatted, biting her inner lips.

'Stand up!" He whisper yelled at her.

'My stomach… it hurts." She looked up at him, blinking her wet lashes and his mysterious eyes above the mask on his nose softened.

'If we don't move, we will get caught, and if we get caught, Alpha Victor will be complicated. Beta Stones will get involved, and I wouldn't be spared either." He painstakingly explained to her, his hands moving in a clasped position to prove his point.

Some maidservants walked past and he shielded her, his back facing them.

'Get up." The words flowed from the narrow spaces between his teeth.

'Isn't it funny? Moon gets dumped after shoving her special relationship with the Gamma down our throat." The voice was mocking.

'I wonder how she feels, she hasn't stepped out of her room for a while." The voice came with a giggle.

'Should we go and knock on her door?"

'Eeish…that's cruel. Allow her to nurse her pain. I swear she has more coming in for her from the Gamma's mate."

'You don't say."

Moon felt her heart constrict, she began to shake and looked up at the tough-looking guy whose eyes looked back at her with equal intensity.

She pictured Jennifer's picture-perfect smile and Victor's kiss on her lips. She imagined them in bed together, her moans and his grunts, his thrusts and her moans.

The pain in her stomach intensified, she squeezed her eyes to a close, biting her lips till she drew out blood to stop herself from screaming and drawing the attention of the vile ladies.

This wasn't the plan. The tough-looking man in a mask was getting restless; what if he got caught? Somehow, he couldn't bear to rough handle her after seeing her expressive eyes.

'Who do you think they are?"

Moon tensed in her position, she had a cramp on her leg. She hid her face with her arms and struggled not to be seen.

Zell tensed his jaw, his hand on the wall tightened as he looked down at the struggling Moon. He contemplated picking her up and playing pretend, maybe they could act like a couple and get away immediately from the gossiper's leave.

He was In the act of doing that when the sound of steady steps stopped him. He knew the sound of those steps, it was about to get worse.

'What do you think you are doing?" A powerful voice echoed in the hallway startling everyone around.

Zell made a pause, not daring to move as he thought he was being spoken to. The maidens stood still, not daring to breathe as a blush crept up their cheeks.

Moon was the only one who didn't stop her actions. The pain in her stomach kept increasing by the second; she could not keep biting her mouth; she already had blood from it. The metallic taste went up to her brain.

'You all are standing around lazily and blackmailing me instead of going about with the decorations as supposed." He walked slowly around them, looking at their faces.

'We…we…are so…"

'Keep your apologies to yourself, I have marked your fuckin' faces. Get your ass moving and expect your punishments soon." His hard voice gave no room for negotiation and they scurried away, their footsteps echoing in the hallway.

Looking at the squatting lady on the floor whose sniff he could not bear any longer, he strode towards them.

'Do you know you could be caught!?" He grabbed Zell by his collar, hitting him against the wall, his eyes blazing.

'I had to; she is in pain." He didn't falter.

Loosening his hand on his collar, his neck snapped towards the squatting Moon who was sweating badly. He sniffed the air and his eyes widened at the metallic scent of blood from her.

'Moon?" He rushed towards her, immediately squatting to her level.

'Are you okay?" Without realizing it, he was trembling as he held her face.

Moon half opened her eyes to have a look at him. She wanted to cuss, but she had no energy in her to do that; she only looked at him with her half-opened eyes, barely having enough breath to keep herself conscious.

Victor, who was dressed in a black shirt and pants, looking all formal and ready for his mating ceremony, stood up and folded his sleeves to show his muscles. He unbuttoned the first three buttons on his shirt, bent down, and swooped her into his arms.

Her bottom felt wet, his eyes went cold. When he noticed she had slipped into unconsciousness, his eyes went even colder, it became dark.

'Get her bags. Stick to the plan."

'Yes, Alpha." Zell's response was vibrant but he could not help turning back one last time to look at the weakened Moon.

With no one to stop him or watch him, he disappeared.
