Chapter 48

I walked out of Diana's room with my head held high. I know it would have to take everything in me to break the chain she had on me and I was ready to risk it.
I wondered about how Moon was, left alone by the pool still in her wet dress and hair. No one would want to attend to her, and pinning my hopes for Becky wasn't ideal; she had done enough leading me towards Diana's hideout and helping alarm the rest.
I had chills thinking about how Moon would have been killed without anyone's notice if I hadn't found out she had gone missing from her room.
How was Diana planning to get away with it? Frame Moon for suicide? Manipulate the thoughts of everyone in the pack?
Speedily running down the stairs, I made for the pool but decided to walk past the entrance. A soft click caught my attention, and I looked toward the gate with narrowed eyes, my heart thundering in my chest.
'Would she have gone out again!?" I felt my blood boil.
I got torn between wanting to proceed to the pool to check on her, believing she was still there, and wanting to go through the gate, hoping against all odds that she didn't and couldn't leave the pack house after my orders.
My curiosity got the best of me and I went towards the gate and got out swiftly. I was in no mood for deeper thought to clarify if she was the one because her long, brown, curly hair stood out.
She walked gingerly as if afraid of something, then slowly with her head turning in all directions except behind her. Right before me, she increased her pace, walking nimbly before running after calling the name I hated to hear.
My eyes saw black, then red. She still had the idiot in mind after all my warnings? Damn, their stupid mate bond!
I followed her and saw her get stopped by a few men, probably the guards of Liam's pack. I had the urge to step in but I knew it would brew an unwanted trouble between our pack and theirs. If only she would listen to me and stay out of Liam's way.
She insisted on seeing him, something she would never do for me. I watch her point in a direction, and there he is, basked in his pride and smoking like he doesn't give a fuck about her.
She said they were fated.
It's hard not to scoff at his attitude. Is this how he treats her and she still goes back to see him?
The look in his eyes infuriates me, it's hard not to run out with a loud cry and throw a punch at him. He had always had this look on him since he was little, and it hadn't changed yet. Does he think he is still superior to everyone just because of his family history?
Moon's careful steps toward him made me want to puke; her pleas and affection were disgusting to watch, and he wasn't even looking at her. I know I couldn't take her out now else I would be tracked down and traced to the Silverstone Pack.
I waited, trailing behind patiently, and happy that the obstacles were out of the way now.
When he finally stared at her, his eyes were as hard as a rock, the same look he gave to the dying Alpha Rex. A look without remorse even when in serious guilt. Yet, she still hung on.
When she began to cry, my face felt hot for her. Her frail body shook, it made me pensive, the thought that she could break into two if her tears rocked her too hard.
He kept her at arm's length. He fuckin' kept her at arm's length!
'Just Leave!" I muttered between my teeth but she took that moment to beg, falling in the process for the heartless idiot. He barely spared her a glance before walking back but she kept begging.
'Liam wait." She called, her voice teary.
He didn't wait and she weakly followed, limping like an idiot, clenching her stomach and still following him even as he increased his pace.
Wait, something is wrong. Moon wasn't this strong earlier? What changed? Who has that dress she's wearing? I am not a freak but I have memorized all her clothes by heart.
Did someone from the pack help her, or did she find help outside? Okay, that is it. I am not taking any of this from her anymore.
Stealthily walking towards her. I felt her stop, looked back to meet my eyes, widened hers, and called his name even louder.
Shit! If he turns, I am done for. Taking a piece of cloth from my breast pocket, I rushed towards her noiselessly while checking Liam's back but like I expected, he didn't bother checking why she sounded the way she did.
I held the cloth over her lips and tied it behind her head swiftly, not giving her any space to drag it out. She wasn't even strong enough to do that.
Waving her hands effortlessly in the air, I carried her over my shoulder and made a quick dash to the hidden path to the Pack's gate.
She wasn't still at all, kicking my chest and hitting my back. It hurts. Without wanting to, because I knew it would rile up her hatred for me, I smacked her ass.
'Shut up already!" I groaned in frustration, and like I expected, she stilled; I would have to deal with her reaction to touching her butts later.
I was already close to the gate when I heard a faint yell of her name. She heard it too and as if being put on the ‘move' command, she began to retaliate again, making it harder for me to properly open the gate without drawing attention.
'Moon!" The voice was getting drastically closer and it was undeniably his voice.
'Hhmmm!" She fuckin' responded even with her gagged lips.
I knew I had to do something fast, pushing the gate open despite her struggle I let her down gently before turning to close the door before she could get to it.
'Really?" My chest would have exploded with the fast beating of my heart at the thought of an elder seeing us come in.
'You went to get her?" It was Diana, looking at me with an unbelievable smile on her face, looking from me to Moon and back to me.
Moon had stilled this time; her hands, which moved to untie the piece of cloth over her mouth, hung mid-air before coming down to her sides. I bet she prefers being gagged to having a conversation with Diana.
'Where is it?" Diana threw her head towards Moon's direction and she stared back at her in confusion.
I was confused.
'Are you sure you sent her to get it?" Diana asked and Becky came forward.
'Yes, I did." She had changed again, conforming to Diana's personality.
Looking between Becky and Moon, I saw the secret conversation going between their eyes.
This time, Diana stamped her feet on the floor, her eyes were blazing with hidden anger.
'Where is it!?"
Moon, who looked confused at first and had refused to take off the piece of clothing, looked at Diana for a while before throwing her head in my direction.
'I guess he stopped her from doing it." Becky snickered.
My face morphed into a frown, looking squarely at Becky and ready to give her a piece of my mind when I saw her eyes twitch intermittently.
'Forget it." Diana looked at my expression and nodded.
I didn't know what it meant, but I looked away either way.
'Finish your task and come clean my room." She told Moon who barely nodded.
Infuriated, she marched towards her and tore the piece from her mouth, her long red nails tearing Moon's skin and leaving behind red angry marks in the process.
'Talk."
'Yes, Diana."
‘Don't bother fooling me, I am just playing along.' Diana's voice rang painfully in my head, startling me, and I looked at her to see her small smile before turning away.
