Chapter 47

Liam POV

Ever since Kia's betrayal and my sleeping with the stranger I came to know as Harper, I had never remained the same. I had become a little withdrawn from the rest of the pack, even from the now mellow Kia himself.

My smoking habit had increased, and I wanted nothing to do with anyone. It affected my relationship with my pack members; they said I became angry after the party, some said I was angry I wasn't acknowledged at the party, but in everything, Harper's habit towards me became even more annoying.

Last night, in my sleep, I heard loud slurping sounds, then I felt something move on my crotch, only to open my eyes to see the brown curly hair I had dreamt of seeing for some days now bent over and engulfing her mouth on my hardened shaft.

'Moon?" I had called but when she looked up at me and smiled, my heart almost stopped.

'Get the FUCK out of my room!" I yelled, shifting out of her grasp.

'Calm down jeez! I was trying to pleasure you, Alpha Liam." She said in a slurry voice that irritated me.

It turned out she was drunk. I hated my body for even responding before I could be fully awake.

'How the fuck did you get in!" I asked, looking around the room for clues she barged into my room only for her to dangle a bunch of keys before me.

It was Kia's bunch of keys and it got me thinking. Before I could ask how she managed to get it, Someone else barged into my room but by then, I had myself covered with my duvet.

'Kia?" I saw his figure marching towards my bed before dragging her up by the hand.

'Apologies Alpha Liam."

I waved him off even when I wanted to ask him a lot of questions. This morning, I decided to use my invisibility cloak to walk around the pack house, only to hear loud gasps of shock.

They were talking about me behind my back; Harper had gone ahead to feed the pack members who cared to listen that she was officially my mistress and the only one capable of serving the Alpha.

'She said his crotch had a lot of veins on it and he went at it till she fainted." One of the ladies had said and the rest gathered around her began squealing in excitement.

I felt a rush, but I knew this wasn't anger; it was something close to embarrassment. I needed to stop her real quick before she went on spreading more information about me.

What woman doesn't keep shut after sleeping with a man? Shit!

Today, I decided to take a stroll with the guards to free my head of some things, not that they could see me. Of course, I had decided to be invisible.

My legs led me to the pole where I would always lean on to wait for Moon. Taking the packet of cigars from my pocket and a lighter, I picked a stick and lit it up, drawing in the smoke to my lungs and blowing it off in coils to the cool air.

I looked at the half moon, my eyes teary up a bit from the smoke. I need to figure out a way to get Kia to put Harper in order before she could cause more damage to my reputation. I won't be surprised to see my nudes flying around the pack house if nothing is done about this.

Amid my thoughts, the wind blew and I caught a whiff of Moon's scent. It made my brain fuzzy, but I ignored it; I wasn't ready to chase after shadows; the last time was lesson enough.

'What do you think you are doing here?" I heard one of the guards ask fiercely and the rest whistled.

'She looks distressed, probably a lady in distress waiting for her prince in shining armor, ei?" Another one said.

'Nah! This one is feisty yet looks delicate, perfect for a good fuck." Another whistled.

'Cat caught your tongue?"

I looked around to catch the sight of some lady who looked like Moon, dressed in a short flowery gown, my breath quickened.

Making myself visible, I see her look straight at me like she knew I would be there waiting for her like always. I was touched but hurt remembering her intimate kiss with the other guy and her not showing any resistance.

'Liam!" She called out my name; I felt the tremor in her voice, but what do I care?

I scoffed and kept on smoking.

'Liam?" The head guard asked and the rest laughed it off.

'Who are you calling Liam, lady? Have you got no respect?" Another chipped in.

'Hey! Leave or not…" There was a subtle threat in their voice.

'Alpha Liam?" She called out again, jumping and waving to me.

'Stop tempting us, lady, or you would have yourself to blame."

'I need to see him." She pleaded.

I looked at her and saw her pointing at me. The guards still did not believe her till one of them followed her finger. By this time, I had squashed the cigar in my hand and began walking towards them.

'Alpha!?" He looked drained of blood and the rest followed, their eyes a little wide in shock.

'When did you get here?" Kia stepped out of the shadows.

I scoffed at his question.

'Like you ought to know?" I looked at him and he bowed a little, backing off.

'So you have been here?" I questioned him, a brow lifted totally ignoring Moon and her eyes unblinkingly on me.

Decoding the message in my voice, he heaved before replying.

'No physical harm was done, so I saw no need to intervene, Alpha." He responded respectfully and I eyed him.

'We are sorry Alpha." The bead guard bowed and the rest followed, giving way for her to come to me.

'Liam?" She called slowly, coming close to me.

I refused to look at her, only looking at Kia and nodding them off.

'Liam, I miss you." She came close again, her voice trembling even harder.

When she made to take me into her embrace, I shifted away, looking at her hands like they were covered in something extremely disgusting.

'Liam please." She begged her delicate green eyes boring holes into my yellow ones.

I only stared back at her without any expression on my face.

'Allow me to explain." She sniffed, and tears began pouring out of her eyes, squeezing my heart tight.

I wanted to pull her into my embrace, tell her I forgave her already, and there was nothing else to think about, but I couldn't; my teeth stuck to themselves, pronouncing my jawline.

She began to weep, taking hold of my shirt and squeezing it tight. I saw her collarbone sticking out more than it should, her hands were weak and thin, same with her entire body. I wondered what happened all these days.

I wanted to hold her close, place my lips on hers, and ask her what went wrong, but all I did was peel her hands off my shirt, put my hands on her shoulders, and gently push her away from me, keeping her at arm's length.

'Liam please." She cried, looking endearingly at my eyes. It hurt my heart, but it was necessary.

'please hear me out." She made to move but tripped and fell bruising her knees.

I wanted to move in to help her, but I turned away and walked back with her grunts behind me before she started following me.

'Liam wait." She called, her voice teary.

I didn't wait, even though I wanted to, I stupidly and stubbornly kept walking. Maybe I wanted to see how far she would go with her pleas or maybe I just wanted to purposely hurt her for the hurt she caused.

'Liam?" She called again and I began to make my stride longer.

'Liam!" There was a sense of urgency to her voice that made me want to look back, but I didn't; I just kept walking till it got silent.

I stopped, looked back, and found an empty street; she was nowhere to be found.

I walked back to the place where she last called me but I found no evidence of her except her footprints.

'Moon?" I called her, not believing I would be the one calling out to her but I received the wind as a reply and nothing else.

Still walking around the area she stood, thinking she hid herself to see my reaction, I saw a sign of struggle on the sand and my heart stopped.
