Liam looked at me with contempt, pulled out a card from his pocket, and threw it at my feet.
"All this talk is just a scheme to extort money, right? Here's $20,000—consider it medical expenses. Now take it and get out of here."

The crowd, eager to side with Vivian, quickly gathered around her, shooting us disdainful looks.
"See that? If this weren't being livestreamed, Summit Pictures would've had you dealt with already!"
"Daring to mess with Vivian and her family—consider this a lesson. Even if she got a concussion, it'd be what she deserved!"
"Since her husband already gave you money, why are you still here making a scene?"
Paramedics were tending to Chloe. She looked toward Vivian, pleading with her eyes, but Vivian kept holding Leo's hand, avoiding our daughter's gaze.
The light in Chloe's eyes dimmed. Then she turned to me and said calmly, "From now on, Dad and I will be just fine on our own."
