“We don’t need it.Shut up!.”
I slapped him again.“I told you,I see you,I hit you.”
James raised his hand, but the diners, now familiar with me,stared him down.

“Isn’t that the giant baby’s son?Not home feeding your mom milk, but here bothering your ex?”
“You outsource filial piety, dumping your mom on your wife.”
They laughed.James flushed.“What do you know, you clueless idiots?”
Diners soured.“Emily’s divorce was smart decision.Living with you would be misery.”
As James raised his hand,a burly diner grabbed him.“You gonna hit Emily?Weak men rely on women and bully the vulnerable. You are a loser.”
His past insults now boomeranged back.

James, defiant, shifted gears.“You’ve been off since the restaurant opened.Something’s wrong with you,Emily!”
I shrugged.“So what?”
The situation was settled.James was a beaten dog.
But I underestimated his malice.

He charged into the kitchen, grabbing a cleaver.“All things started here, these things also will ends here!”
“If you hadn’t made money, you’d have stayed home with Mom!”
“You wouldn’t have that useless daughter, and I wouldn’t lose everything!”
“If you never opened this place, none of this would’ve happened!”
He swung the knife wildly.
In the chaos,a diner shielding her daughter and wrestled it away and stabbed him.
James collapsed.Diners cheered the brave mother.
I'm very glad that no one was injured and I feel relieved about it.
James was rushed to the hospital, dying three days later.
Dorothy was sent back to Laura’s.She demanded milk on arrival.“My little boy’s gone. You cook for Baby now, I am so sad.”
Laura blew up my phone, but I blocked her.
They tried dumping Dorothy at my restaurant, but I’d already moved to a new city.
“That damn Emily ditched her shop and ran.I fell for her tricks!”
“Her success is all due to accidental luck.Let’s see how she makes money in other cities.”
This life,I’d mastered business, dodged their sabotage, and banked hefty profits.
Confident I’d succeed anywhere,I took willing staff and left swiftly.
They couldn’t find me.
Two years later,a former diner visited my new restaurant, recognized the food, and insisted on seeing me.
We hit it off,and she shared gossip about my old life.
Laura’s family initially indulged Dorothy, banking on the redevelopment house.
When they learned it was fake, they turned on her, yelling and hitting.
Dorothy cried, but seeing it futile, she sulked for a week before slipping rat poison into their rice.
The whole family ended up in the hospital for stomach pumping.
I don’t know their fate, and it doesn’t matter with me.
Now,I do what I love my daughter also grow healthy and safe. Our parents are also by our side.
The future is bright.
