I clenched my jaw, then relaxed.“All I want is her growing up safe and healthy.”
“Let’s divorce. My daughter and I don’t need you in the future.”
James’s eyes widened.“Why?If you want to divorce with me,who’ll care for Mom?”

“Taking care of your mom is your duty, not me.”
He grabbed me,pain ripping through my stitches.
I bit my lip until it bled, hearing him say,“Mom’s got a house Dad left her.Someone tipped us it’s slated for redevelopment.”
Greed gleamed in his eyes.“If we pamper her until she dies, she’ll leave it to us,not Greg.Got it?”
So this is the truth.
I stared at the man who’d vowed to love me.

He faked filial piety for money, forced me to coddle his mother, and killed our daughter.
I am so stupid.
I pushed him away coldly.“I don’t get it.”
“You can earn money.Divorce.”

I was grateful I’d watched Dorothy closely, exposing James’s true nature.
He clenched his fists.“I won’t. to agree it”
But nurses and cameras caught his poisoning attempt.
“You don’t have a choice.”
He glared venomously.“You think you’re safe? You will see!”
His heinous act led to a swift divorce ruling.
The poisoning didn’t cause lasting harm,so sentencing was delayed for a later trial.
Leaving the courtroom,he dropped his innocent act and cursing me.“You divorce me now,but you have daughter?Let’s see how you survive.”
“When I get that house,I’ll be rich and find someone new.Don’t come crawling back!”
He thought I was still the vulnerable new mother.
This life,I had money and time.Postpartum care had me recovering fast.
As he ranted,I slapped him twice.
“KIf you keep pestering me, I will surely hit you.Even tigers don’t eat their young. You and your mom are monsters.Show up again, and I’ll beat you both.”
James—now just James Wilson—stared,stunned.“You’ve lost it…”
I walked away, giving him no chance to humiliate me.
But one thing intrigued me.
James and Greg kept mentioning a house their father left Dorothy, likely to be redeveloped.
In my past life,I’d been clueless, even when caring for my dying father-in-law.
I hired a private investigator.
The truth shocked me.
During his final illness,my father-in-law sold most assets to prolong his life.
James and Greg thought it wastes money for a dying man.
To secure Dorothy’s future,he lied about a house slated for redevelopment.
But he died,and Dorothy,spoiled rotten,became reckless.
The house never existed.James would get nothing.
While relocating my restaurant,I sent James the truth.
He lost it,slapping Dorothy repeatedly at home before begging me.
“I’m sorry, honey.I was wrong.Let’s remarry, ok?I’ll treat you and our daughter kindly and keep her safe.”
