Chapter 78

Liam was silent for a while watching them look up at him in anticipation.

'You all can leave except Kia." He said and the guards bowed before finding their way out.

'At first, we didn't understand what was happening back in the courtroom at the Silverstone pack, but it makes sense now," Steve said and Joana nodded.

'You see, your father had never given us the privilege to come in contact with or see you all through our stay in the Silverstone pack." He continued, his eyes fluctuating between admiration and fear.

Thinking deeper about his words, Liam had a gut feeling that he had met Moon as a child; her brown and green eyes would always stand out.

'You are the rumored son of Alpha Victor." They smiled at him, and he felt disgusted.

Looking at them more closely, he knew something wasn't right about them. None of them looked like Moon; he turned to look at Kia, whose eyes were on the couple the entire time. He looked at him too, a crease of worry on his face.

'Since you are the Alpha of the pack, I will leave my daughter in your care completely, we only need to see her," Joana told him happily.

'How did you know Alpha Victor?" He asked them, looking into their shaky eyes.

'That isn't the issue here." Steve tackled.

'Yes." Joana supported.

'Bring Moon to us," Steve said, but one look at his face, you would know it was an act.

'Are you her parents?" He had wanted to ask them; the scars on Moon's body were a little scary; there was no way they wouldn't have known or seen it.

But he ended up asking them what they wanted to hear. 'How much do you need to leave her alone?"

'Did she tell you something?" He asked, his brows furrowing.

'She didn't, I want my mate all to myself." He declared.

'Let's think about it," Steve told him, eying his mate who returned the signal.

They bowed their heads and spoke softly; they were whispering, barely hearing themselves, but Liam's hearing ability was excellent; he could already pick up their words without trying too hard.

'How much do we ask?"

'Do you think asking will be enough? No matter how big the money is, we will squander it before we know what we are doing."

'What do you think we should do then?"

'We stay."

'Uuhh…you so?"

'I know so. As the parents to the mate of the Alpha, we will be respected and given special treatment from others."

'I can't believe the idiot finally gave us a chance at luck."

'Let's quickly make our decision known to him."

Liam was boiling inside him. He was right; they were no parents of Moon, he needed to force the truth out of their mouths, but he needed the permission of Moon.

Calming himself down, he opened his eyes to meet theirs, now looking up at him expectantly.

'We have decided," Steve said.

Liam raised a brow at him.

'We don't need any money, we just need to be by Moon's side."

'Why?" Liam found himself asking.

Initially, he didn't want to ask. He just wanted to get it done and over with before going back to be with Moon.

The couch looked at themselves before looking at him.

'We are her parents," Joana replied.

'Parents?" Liam felt himself scoff.

'Parents don't deliberate about the amount of money they need!"

Kia had to place a hand on his shoulder to keep him in check.

'We were excommunicated from our pack, so we need a few cash to keep up."

'What changed? You can gain better here?" He asked them and they hurdled close to each other, his face reminding them of the face of their previous Alpha.

'Are you really her parents?" His eyes studied theirs before he looked away.

'What happened to her? The scars on her…"

'Did she say we did that to her?" Joana got offensive immediately.

'Did I say she said that?" Liam smiles without his eyes smiling with him.

'Are you guilty?" He stepped forward and they shrunk backwards.

'Did you not see the scars on her?"

'She got it herself from being too weak and fragile," Steve said in a strange voice. He sounded like he was strangled.

'Is that so?" Liam's head twisted to the side.

What he wanted to do was to hold the heads of these persons and squeeze them till their brains turned into liquid and slid down his hands.

He couldn't hold himself back, so he turned away from them to avoid doing something he would regret. How dare they treat his mate like she was just a tiny piece of dust in the air?

'Get them to the visitors' quarters." He told Kia, who nodded at once.

'What?"

'But my daughter doesn't live in the visitors' quarters. We want to be close to her as her parents, there are certain things she would need our help for." Joanna began making a scene.

She refused to comply; she kept making a hell of a noise that Liam was blinded by rage. The audacity they had to keep making scenes when they should be in hiding for their abuse of a pup.

Using his extraordinary ability, he zapped towards her and held her neck, making her strings of words get stuck to her throat.

'I dare you to speak again." He said between his teeth, looking at her annoying face.

He didn't hurt women but not when he was tested over and again.

'We…we will leave with your guard quietly." Steve pleased from behind, his hands in the air towards Liam.

Joanna, whose face was almost red, nodded severally till he dropped his hands from her neck and walked out without stopping.

'But when do we get to see her though?" Steve asked, shielding his mate behind him and moving towards the corner as he saw Liam pause.

'How did you get to know my father as the Alpha and not a Gamma?" He asked without turning to them.

'We can't…"

'Take yourself out of my presence." He ordered and walked out.

He could have gone to see Moon, but he needed to calm himself down first, so he transformed into his wolf with the belief that Moon was perfectly okay as he went for a long run to unwind.
