Chapter 40

Lilian, who had this suspicious look on her face, studied Diana's movement.

'What were you up to back there?" Lilian's eyes narrowed at Diana as whispered her question to her.

'What do you think?" Diana asked back, her head inched forward, blowing the hair out of her face; her eyes had this determined look in them.

Looking back at the just-closed door with a look of alarm on her face, Lilian's eyes widened and she hurriedly covered Diana's mouth with her palm, dragging her towards the hidden comer of the hallway.

Forcing Lilian's hand from her lips, she glared at her. 'What's with you?"

'I should be asking you that. What's with you? You are shouting?" Lilian's voice went a little high, still in a whisper, glaring back at Diana.

'Oh!"

'Oh." Lilian mimicked, leaning her back against the wall.

'So dear sister, what are you up to?" Lilian said without a whisper, and it was Diana's turn to rush towards her and cover her lips.

'What are you doing?" Lilian's eyes went wide, her voice almost muffled as she tried to free her lips from Lilian's attack.

'What if someone hears?" Diana's eyes scanned the empty hallway.

Rolling her eyes, Lilian relaxed, her eyelid dropping.

'What are you up to Sister Diana?" Lilian said again, her voice full of contempt.

'Trying to wipe off her memory, duh."

'WHAT!"

'Hey! Move." Diana pushed Lilian a bit from her face.

'You know that is risky? You can't suddenly do things like that."

'And who is to be blamed?" Diana countered with folded arms, one leg forward and one backward, her hips pushed backward as she looked back at Lilian's ‘what-the-hell-do-you-think-you-are-doing!?' gaze.

'No answer me? When you suddenly decided it was best to get into my room and use my pendant for your next plan, you didn't think about the repercussions of it?"

'Calm down; the walls have ears, too." Lillian reminded, a look of defeat on her face.

'And did you succeed?" She whispered.

'I think I might have succeeded in messing with her mind a bit, but her walls of defense are too messed up for my understanding," Diana complained.

'If I can sneak in after now, I would clear up her memory and build up another of when stealing from you. My wolf can help." Diana concluded.

'And you think that's a good idea?" A male voice startled them.

Lilian's hand flew to her chest, and she bent in shock, breathing hard.

Beta Stone's shiny show came first, then his whole body.

'What do you think your Dad, Alpha Victor will say to this?" Beta Stone asked, his hands stuffed inside his pocket, looking back at the lady who kept glaring at him since he disrupted her plans and conversation.

'He won't know if you don't say," Diana responded.

'I don't need to say anything, Princess Diana; I think you are forgetting something. Your Dad is more powerful than you are, your power is just a fragment from the source it came from." Beta Stone said before turning his attention to Lilian, whose eyes decided to choose that moment to be busy.

'And you?"

'Beta Stone," Lilian responded quickly, standing straight.

'What were you thinking exposing your identity out here just because you thought you were alone? I could have been anyone."

'I am sorry, Beta," Lilian said, her legs already ready to get themselves out of there before they were told to.

'You were planted here by your uncle and you, by your father for a reason." Beta Stone said rigidly, aligning his voice to the position of his body.

'You should caution your son too Beta Stone." Diana retorted and Lilian's eyes went wide.

'What?" The beta asked, his brows furrowing, but Diana had already found her way out with Lilian following her behind, and they started their heated argument.

Beta Stone ground his teeth. ‘The nerves of her!'

He had come too far with this meticulous plan of becoming the Alpha of the Silverstone Pack to let anything get in the way and that included Alpha Victor's daughter.

Calming himself down, he walked out to see the Alpha staring into nothing. As if noticing his presence and wanting to get away, the Alpha began walking before taking a pause.

'Punish her yourself, but make sure it isn't a hard one, else I'll revoke it." Alpha Rex ordered his back to the dark face of his Beta before transforming into a white wolf and running off into the woods behind the pack house.

Beta Stone did not bother bowing to the receding figure of his Alpha, he just continued his walk like he wasn't just given an order.

He thought of ignoring the order of his Alpha but knowing the effect it would have on the next generation of wolves, he went to their pack house to deliver his message.

Once Moon is confirmed to be all right, she would clean up the entire pack house before being served food. That was his verdict and it wasn't too harsh.

Someone in the crowd had asked if she would go on doing her normal chores.

Thinking about it, Beta Stone imagined and weighed the cruelty of it.

'No." Was his response, he wouldn't want to be made mockery of when the suddenly emotional Alpha would come in to renounce his verdict.

'But isn't this punishment little for a crime as such?" Stone recognized her, she was among Diana and Lilian's circle of friends.

'Name?" He asked.

'Amira." She responded smilingly.

'No, it should have been nothing at all but we can't seem to prove she was set up by the owner or owners of the diamond pendant." Everyone gasped looking at Diana like they hadn't thought silently of that possibly.

Beta Stone caught Diana's eyes and electricity crackled.

'Or…" He continued loudly.

'Some other person's, for their twisted pleasures, might have set both parties up." He concluded with a harmless smile that didn't mean harmless to the two secret family members staring back at him.

Stone, this time, looked at Lilian's half-shocked face, half-angry face. He turned to look for his son in the crowd, and when he finally found him, he was disappointed at the look of worry in his eyes.

Meeting his eyes, he pointed his face towards the exit and moved out.

Left with no other option, Aiden went out to join Beta Stone.

‘Tell him all about your infatuation with the thief.' Diana voiced in Aiden's head.

When he turned to catch her eyes, she smiled at him.
