Chapter 26

Bending with a pounding heart, I carried the parcel and waited for a bit to see if someone from somewhere would pounce on me and yell to attract attention.
When nothing of such happened, I slowly receded into my room with the parcel in my hand. It felt a little heavy, I had to use both hands.
Sitting on the side of my bed, I kept the parcel, studied it, and contemplated sneaking out to meet Liam first.
'But…"
Okay, never mind, I will just open it slowly. Drawing it carefully close to me, I take my time unwrapping the carefully packed parcel just in case there is a need to repackage it back the way it was packaged.
Inside this beautifully wrapped package, I saw two other wrapped packages.
By this time, my heart was thundering. What if I blow up? Or is something harmful in the parcel? Another unwanted memory flashed in my mind, but I blinked it away.
Picking one parcel and throwing care into the wind. I tore it open to see a little note attached to the attractive-looking packet.
[An ointment for your injuries. (•‿•)]
An ointment? Holding the bottle carefully, I open it and close my eyes in pleasure at the extremely sweet scent that wafted into my nose.
Taking a bit of it and rubbing it on the little swelling on my ankle, the cool and relaxing feeling made me mourn in pleasure and satisfaction.
For a bit, I was tempted to find all the places that needed the ointment but knowing I had limited time, I had to keep the bottle aside.
Pausing and looking at the oddly beautiful-looking bottle among the shabbily-looking bottles and containers on my vanity, I took it and kept it right under my pillow.
Tearing the other package up, my mouth began to water. I started panting to my mortification and my stomach rumbled and grumbled in protest.
A deliciously cooked steak! Big enough to satisfy me for two days!
I could have simply dived into tearing chunks of it and throwing it right into my mouth but I think twice about it.
Swallowing, I kept the steak out of my reach. Standing up abruptly and running to the door.
'This is a huge setup," I say out loud.
Slowly opening the door, I look out the hallway again to see if someone is peeping and ready to come at me.
My eyes clash with one of the girls just coming out of her room. Pausing in her steps, she gave me a questioning look before her face twisted in distaste.
'What?" She asked still looking at me.
Swallowing my spittle, I want to ask if she saw anyone drop something by my door a while ago but I think better of it. I'd be attracting unwanted attention to myself.
Shaking my head at her question, I watch her pass by me but not without whispering the word weirdo to my hearing.
Closing the door and placing my back on it, I put my hand against my heavily beating heart, doing the breathing exercise to be calm.
Gathering the courage, I went to the steak, held it with both hands and bit into it.
Aarrghh! The taste is heavenly!
Closing my eyes, with my breath labored, I chewed on the content of my mouth. It was the right texture, not overly cooked and not tough either, just juicy enough to leave me feeling like I was out of this earth.
My initial plan was to eat a bit and make it unnoticeable in case they came knocking on my door to retrieve it, but I foiled my plan with my hands.
I kept biting into it, over and again till I was half gone.
What is the worst that could happen? It's not like I haven't experienced worse than the scenario in my head.
Repackaging the remaining steak, a note falls off the wrapper.
[You couldn't get to eat so I brought steaks just for you. (•‿•)]
Using the back of my hand to wipe my stained lips, I give a loud belch, my tongue roaming around my teeth for any piece stuck in between.
Packing it hurriedly, I kept it in my wardrobe before entering my closely built bathroom to rinse off my mouth and drink a little water.
Having done that, I opened my door, stepped out, locked it, and confirmed I had done that twice before finally walking off.
This time, I tried not to be discreet to avoid suspicions from anyone. I passed by a few persons but I pretended not to see them or the scrutinizing eyes on me and my outfit.
'Out on a date?" One of the guys asked me and the rest joined him in laughter.
'She wishes." Someone else replied.
This isn't something new; I have experienced this since I was little, so I looked ahead till I got to the dark corner of the building, just close to the gate.
The guards were having their fun gathering as usual, a little close to the gate in the pretense of watching it.
Waiting for the perfect time, my heart beating loudly in my chest, blood rushing up to my head, I creep closer to the gate while trying my best to be as invisible as possible, clinging to the darkness as a shield.
Before I could get to touch the gate, a hand touched it before me, his body engulfing mine from behind.
'Why are you this stubborn Moon?" He asked, and I bit back the urge to tell him to fuck off in the loudest voice possible.
'Keep your distance," I say, irritated by the sheer breath of his, fanning my bare neck.
'Not when you are endangering yourself." Came his response.
Wrapping one of his hands around my waist, I felt my stomach churn, and I had a strong desire to empty the contents of my stomach on him.
'Keep off." I hiss at him, trying to struggle out of his grasp but as usual, I am the weak one.
He overpowers me, carrying me off my feet. Before I could gasp loudly at the sudden movement, he covered my mouth with his other hand and took me away with my legs kicking the air.
'Let me be!" I try to say but it comes out extremely muffled.
'Keep calm Moon." He whispered into my ears, giving me chills.
Taking me to the least frequented side of the building, he lays me down but lies on top of me before I can get up on my feet.
