They all praised her, saying she was as amazing as her mother. When people mistook Isabella for her mother, Isabella didn't correct them—she adored this little one.
She brought Chloe to every event, so people often assumed Chloe was her daughter.
But she wasn't afraid—instead, she openly acknowledged it.
With my support, Isabella's career soared, becoming smoother than ever.
Her role as an agent naturally transitioned to me, and I also took on the investor identity.
We were very happy these past few months. Isabella and I confessed our feelings for each other and got engaged.
A few days later, during a business negotiation with a company partner at a bar, a familiar person walked in pushing a drink cart, dressed in a maid outfit.
I never expected to see Vivian again under such circumstances. After being blacklisted from the industry, she ended up selling drinks at a bar. She had married Liam.
But Liam had developed a gambling addiction and accumulated massive debts. Vivian, realizing too late that she had made a mistake, was now subjected to daily abuse from Liam.
Looking at her, I saw that the glow and arrogance she once had were gone. Instead, she looked strained and, upon seeing me, mostly cold.
She understood—this was the consequence of her choices. She had brought this upon herself.
The business partner asked if I needed anything.
Vivian's eyes met mine. The venom from before was gone, replaced mostly by pleading.
I handed her a card and told her there was 100,000 dollars on it—enough to buy all her drinks.
She took the black card and simply said, "Thank you."
If she knew things would end like this, why did she make those choices? I didn't know what drove her—maybe she went home and told Liam, only to be beaten again.
A few days later, she came to borrow money from me. I walked past her, holding Isabella's hand.
I left her with just one sentence, "Don't come here again. Our wedding is in three days."
Then we walked away without looking back.
Three days later, on the day of the wedding, Isabella still hadn't arrived.
A bad feeling crept into my heart.
What I received was a phone call, "Charles, if you want to save Isabella, come to the rooftop alone!"
I rushed upstairs and saw Vivian holding Isabella hostage on the rooftop.
"Why? Why won't you forgive me? How did things end up like this?"
I replied coldly, "Why? I held you in the palm of my hand, and you went partying with your white moonlight. You even abandoned our daughter!"
"Why? I want to ask you why!"
Vivian looked at me and whispered, "I know I was wrong. Can you not marry her? Let's get back together."
I didn't answer. I knew she was waiting for my response. I glanced at Isabella, signaling to her.
Then Vivian lowered her head, and two law enforcement officers restrained her from behind.
There are many choices in life, but some can only be made once. If you know you made the wrong choice, there's no going back.
I held Isabella and asked if she was hurt. She shook her head, and then I took her back to proceed with the wedding.
Hand in hand with Chloe, our faces were filled with happiness and joy.
