"Why are you taking their side against Dad and me? Can't you hear the horrible things they're saying?"

Vivian yanked her hand away sharply, and Chloe stumbled backward—I caught her just in time.
My daughter looked up at me, crying, "Dad, does Mom not want us anymore?"
