Hearing Ryan's words and looking at Ethan, who looked like he was beaten half to death,I suddenly felt like crying.
Those humble memories were quite embarrassing for me,so I never told Ethan.Even if I did,he probably wouldn't believe me anyways.Begging one's rival for the person one loves, probably only I could do such a thing. But during the time when Ethan and Sylvia broke up,he was so decadent and depressed.I didn't want to see him sad,so I kept telling myself that the greatest act of love was to let go.If Ethan and Sylvia were really happy together,I would have let them be at that time.

But even though I begged so humbly,Sylvia still left.
I didn't want to pay attention to what happened next.Ryan's indignation,Sylvia's crying, and Ethan's face, which was paler than a dead person's...I just felt so tired. It turned out that being a soul could be so tiring too.
Before Ryan left,he only said to Ethan,"You will definitely regret it."He didn't give Ethan any more glances. But before he left,he stopped in front of my gravestone for a few seconds.
I thought, this was the last thing Ryan could do for me.
In the evening, this farce came to an end.Sylvia had already left in embarrassment,Ethan was the only one left in the graveyard.
It started to rain at some point in the sky, just like the day I proposed divorce to him.

Ethan walked up to my gravestone and squatted down.I saw that blood was still oozing from his eyebrow bone.I was just thinking that Ryan really hit hard when I heard Ethan say,
"Amelia."
Huh?I subconsciously responded, even though I knew he couldn't hear me.
"Do you hate me very much?"

His tone was not like a question but rather a statement of fact.
Probably. It would be a lie to say I don't hate you.You were the one who made me sad so many times after all.
"I'm getting my retribution now,Amelia."I heard Ethan let out a soft laugh.A tear rolled down his bruised face."Does seeing me like this make you a little happier?"
I shook my head.
I'm not happy.I couldn't say why.Seeing Ethan,who was always so cold-hearted,in such a disheveled state,I should be happy.
I just thought,Ethan,we shouldn't have ended up like this.
After the turmoil at the funeral, everything returned to normal.
The next time I saw Ethan,he seemed to have returned to his usual calm appearance. The bruises on his face were still there, but his expression was so indifferent that no abnormality could be seen.I somewhat admired what a strong heart he’s got.In just a few days,he had experienced the death of his ex-wife and the betrayal of his first love, but the next day,he could still act as if nothing had happened.
But he seemed to be working even harder.Ethan used to work overtime a lot.He often forgot to have dinner because he was busy with work and thus developed problems with his stomach. So I always cooked dinner and brought it to his company for him.
Ethan was still Ethan. He still worked like crazy, like an ice-cold machine that only knew how to work. But the difference from before was that now no one would pester him endlessly to remind him to have dinner.
Ethan was in the office, dealing with a mountain of documents, but his eyes were fixed on a potted plant on his desk.
It was a pot of succulents, and there was a smiling-face sticker on the flowerpot.
Memories were pulled back to the first year of our marriage. At that time,I was obsessed with succulents for a while.I had more than a dozen potted succulents at home, and I put cute stickers on each of their flowerpots. This one was also one of the ones I had at that time.
I liked succulents, these cute and vibrant plants.Having succulents gave me a great sense of happiness in life. One day when Ethan came home from work,I offered to give him a potted succulent.
