Furious,I tossed my phone.I’d let the past go,but Charlotte’s shamelessness reignited my anger.
I went to the hospital to find her ex.In the corridor,I spotted Charlotte,wearing a comical wig.
“Scared now?Here to pay?You wretch,you ruined our family!”
Ignoring her,I entered the room.
Her ex lay in bed,glaring at us.“What do you want?”
“I’m here to ask why you hit Charlotte.”
He pointed at her,livid.“Ask her how many times she cheated on me!I just learned she drove my mom to her death!”
“Cheating?That just proves I’m desirable.Your mom’s gone—so what?She deserved it,”Charlotte scoffed.
“Charlotte,you’re pathetic,”I said.
Her eyes sparked with rage.“Don’t gloat,wretch!If I hadn’t slipped up,you’d be the one burned!”
I said nothing,and she panicked.“What?Why aren’t you talking?”
I raised my phone.“Want to repeat that for the camera?”
She stumbled back.“You’re livestreaming?!”
She checked her phone,flooded with hateful messages.
Two police officers entered.“Ms.Charlotte Hayes,you’re under arrest for extortion and defamation.Come with us.”
“No!I didn’t do anything!Officers,I am innocent.You have to believe me,help !”She tried her cutesy act.
But with her scarred head and whiny voice,the officers’faces darkened,and they hauled her away.
Charlotte was detained for ten days for extortion and violating my image rights.
I heard nothing of her for a while.
