Chapter 41

1031words
Two days later, Daisy was in Paris, France.

According to Mr. Drkov, he took her and Atlas to France to have his leg re-examined. They traveled from last night until 6 a.m., returned to the hotel, had breakfast, rested a bit, and then went to the hospital.

At this moment, Daisy was standing in front of the glass window on the tenth floor of the hospital. Through the glass door, she could see Atlas being examined by a doctor. He was saying something, his face was a bit gloomy. Even though she stood quite far away, she could see his eyebrows furrowed. Next to him is Mr. Drkov. His old face also looked gloomy. Looking at him, she knew the situation was not good.

She could have gone in there, but Atlas refused to let her in. Maybe he didn't want her to see his feet. Because of his wishes, she had to stand outside and wait.

The moment the curtains inside were closed, Daisy could no longer see anything. When there was only a gap left in the curtain, she met Atlas's eyes, but after only two seconds, the curtain was completely closed. She didn't understand his eyes and didn't want to think too much, so she turned around and looked down the street.

The streets of Paris have a strange feeling, quite a few people are walking, walking very fast but not in a hurry. For some reason, she felt a little nervous, her ten fingers clasped together and then let go, repeating countless times.

Inside, Joseph finished checking Atlas and said many things but Atlas couldn't hear a word. His heart seemed to fall to the bottom of the abyss. Even though he knew he had no hope, listening to Joseph's words, his mood was still fine. Avoid disappointment.

Needless to say, Mr. Drkov knew that his nephew could not restore his legs. He was filled with disappointment and asked: "What about his arms? Can they be cured?"

The man in the white shirt seemed thoughtful and said: "It's possible, but the risk is not small, it's also related to his nerves, I can only be 50% sure."

'What risk?"

Mr. Drkov asked.

'The biggest risk is that his arm will also become paralyzed."

Joseph said and pushed his glasses.

Hearing that, Mr. Drkov's forehead seemed to have aged ten years.

Daisy waited impatiently outside and finally the door opened, the wheelchair appeared in her mind, then the face of Atlas, behind him were Linus and Mr. Drkov.

Linus just pushed the wheelchair out. Daisy looked at him but he was bowing his head and she didn't know what he was feeling.

She turned to look at Mr. Drkov again. His expression was not very good, enough for her to understand that the situation was not very positive.

Daisy remained silent and didn't ask anything. They returned to the hotel. Before entering the room, Mr. Drkov called Daisy into the room to talk privately.

Sitting across from Mr. Drkov, she could see his heavy expression. Five minutes have passed and he still hasn't said anything. Daisy didn't rush him, she calmly waited. Normally, if someone has something to tell her, she will wait for that person to speak first and she is not impatient while waiting.

Not long after, Mr. Drkov finally opened his mouth with a light sigh: "Atlas is hopeless."

She could hear the disappointment filling her but said nothing. She knew there was no use talking now.

'He's in a bad mood, please help me comfort him."

Mr. Drkov continued to speak, at this time he was no longer the president of a large corporation but had become a normal grandfather, caring for his grandson.

'I know, don't worry."

Returning to her and Atlas's room, she found the room a bit gloomy, making people shiver. It was daytime but because the curtains were not drawn, the room was not very bright. She couldn't see him anywhere. Saw Linus coming out of the hotel bedroom.

She took the opportunity to ask: "Is he in there?"

Linus still kept his distance from her, his eyes wary, and said: "Young master doesn't want anyone to bother him."

"I am his wife."

Daisy said each word clearly and smiled.

Then, Linus pursed his lips without saying a word. He passed her and walked out, not daring to look back. That woman was so scary, she always made him feel like there was danger, in his heart he said: Bless himself.

Daisy looked at the brown wooden door without knocking but pushed the door directly. What caught her attention was a man sitting in a dark corner of the wall. Unlike the previous times, she couldn't see his back like this anymore. The previous times she had seen his face.

Atlas heard the noise and saw her but he did not react. Normally he would open his mouth to chase her away or angrily throw things at her. He was indeed a bit strange today.

However, she quickly discovered what the strange thing was. His eyes were lifeless, like a person with no focus. His whole body was no longer covered with loneliness and isolation, but instead with despair.

She felt like he was slowly falling into the abyss and he just let his body fall freely. For some reason, she felt like just a minute later, he would leave this world.

Daisy thought so, she panicked and hurried towards Atlas, she knelt in front of him and said: "Atlas."

Daisy didn't know if he heard her call or not, but his eyes didn't move, his body didn't move, like a soulless corpse.

Daisy grabbed his face, she said frantically: "Atlas, what's wrong, can you hear me? Atlas, look at me, can you see me?"

Atlas's eyes moved a little, but in just a moment, they lost focus.

She saw this change. She quickly grabbed his cold hand and pressed it hard, hoping he would wake up from the pain, but to no avail. No matter how much she pressed, this man did not react. If she could no longer hear his heartbeat, she would have thought he was dead.
