Chapter 103

'Alpha Victor, he made me a clean slate." She sniffled, her shoulders shook.
She went ahead to recount what happened up until the day she met Liam.
'He was a lonely and depressed little boy." She sniffed again, before blowing her nose into her handkerchief.
'He poisoned me. He…he used his abilities on me." Alpha Rex's face was in a frown as he stared at the floor. He hadn't still forgiven Liam for what he did to him years ago; he would have almost died if Victor, his Gamma, hadn't saved him.
But even that was a ploy too.
Olivia looked up at her Mate, standing up, she came and sat beside him, putting a hand on his shoulder.
'Would you believe me if I told you he didn't do it because he wanted to?" She asked him.
Alpha Rex looked at his long-lost Mate with shaky eyes.
'What do you mean?"
'Rex." Olivia sighed.
'He would have refused if he didn't want to do it, he would have spoken up. He would have…"
'Would you have believed him?"
'Did you stop to wonder how did Victor get hold of him?" She asked him gently.
'He said he was some street kid." Rex frowned in confusion.
'If you paid extreme attention to details, you would have noticed the sameness in their eye color. If you didn't leave almost everything up to your Beta, maybe you would have spotted some loopholes." She told him, lying on the bed with her arms stretched out.
Alpha Rex could only look at her.
'Did you also ever stop to think about how he became his biological son after the secret was revealed?"
'Did you ponder on the missing maiden back then? Moon."
'Did you wonder why Victor decided that his mate won't stay in the pack?"
'Did you stop to think about why Moon was maltreated?" Olivia kept bombarding him with questions; her voice went an octave higher at some, it broke at others, and went some steps lower at some.
Rex held his head in his hand as she kept throwing these questions at him. He would confess that he wasn't the best of Alpha, leaving almost all the work to his subjects, first because he trusted them, then because he was depressed.
'How do you think a little boy of that age would come in possession of a dangerous substance?"
'I mean, he is a street kid, so…"
'Rex Dear, that isn't how things are done. I have raised him till this age and I can beat my chest a hundred percent that he is the opposite of everything you believe him to be." She sat up. Alpha Rex's eyes followed her.
'Do you trust your Beta that much?" She threw it again at him, leaving him pained before sitting down to narrate things to him.
'He is the son of the missing maid?" Rex blinked his brain into understanding.
'Yes." She responded, this time she was sitting on the floor.
'And where is she?"
'Dead." Olivia deadpanned.
'He had come to inform his father about her death when he ceased him and forced him to your pack."
'Our pack." Alpha Rex corrected but Olivia ignored that.
'He used the same spell on the little boy; most things he did back then were under the influence of the spell on him." She smiled bitterly.
'He would have died of guilt if someone wasn't there to help him out." She looked straight at Rex.
'And you did," Rex concluded.
'You are at fault too. Why would you blame the little boy and make him a mortal energy to your pack when you didn't do your research well?" She was getting worked up this time.
'How could you not recognize your daughter up close and right beneath your nose?" She started crying again.
'I'm sorry." Alpha Rex just kept repeating like a broken tape.
'The first day I set my eye on her, she looked malnourished, abandoned, and tortured. What did they do to her?" Olivia stood up and walked towards Rex who was full of shame this time.
Placing her hands on his shoulder, she slowly shook him. 'You need to wake up."
'Forgive me." He begged, looking at her and she nodded.
'I have forgiven you already."
'Really?"
'But you need to forgive him. He is not at fault here. I support their union too." She looked at him in the eyes and he just nodded, lacking words to say.
All Rex needed at that moment was the forgiveness of his mate and daughter, nothing else really mattered after that.
'How do I get her forgiveness?"
'We would figure that out." Olivia was back to being calm.
'What about us?" Alpha Rex asked his wife, trying to reach out to her when the door got pounded on from outside.
Frowning, she stood up and walked towards the door.
'Aunt Olivia." Serenity called, she was panting after running to her room.
'Yes, yes. What is it?"
'It's Kia, it's Diana. Death."
'Can you calm down and talk to me?" She asked her trying to understand what she was trying to say.
Serenity's thoughts had been in disarray since her encounter with Aiden in the dungeon.
'It's Kia." She finally said.
'What happened to him?" Olivia got serious and concerned at once.
'He got stabbed and now his…" Serenity didn't get to finish her words because Olivia had run off toward the direction of the bay with Rex on her tail.
Serenity sagged to the floor, the details of earlier replaying in her head.
