Chapter 237

In the cemetery, Mrs. Victoria cried so much that she almost fainted. Fortunately, Rose stood by her side to help her and advise her, and gradually she stabilized her emotions.

Finally, the funeral ended, and each group of associates, friends, and relatives left one by one, everyone in an unhappy mood.

Someone sighed in regret that a young talent in the business world like Derek died so early.

Some people feel sorry for Tibble's family when there are only two women left, and one Mr. Devon is incompetent, afraid that they will face many difficulties in the days to come.

Waiting for everyone to leave, Rose helped her mother walk out of the cemetery.

As soon as Rose raised her head, she saw Bertha standing under the tree over there. She immediately became angry. "It's all your fault. If it wasn't for you, how could he die? Why are you here?"

Bertha didn't object, she lowered her head and looked at the ground.

Venn didn't want to see his sister criticized by others, he immediately turned serious. "Watch your mouth. Bertha doesn't know about this, but your brother decides for himself."

"She doesn't know?"

Rose stepped forward, she looked at Bertha with red eyes from crying so much. "It sounds so simple. My brother died because of her. Look at her, not even a single tear falls, she is truly a cold-blooded and heartless woman..."

"Rose."

Rose hadn't finished her scolding words yet, and Mrs. Victoria spoke up to stop her.

Rose couldn't believe it, she looked at her mother. "Mom. She is the one who killed my brother. Is it wrong for me to scold her? Don't you hate her so much, why do you help her?"

Bertha still bowed her head to the ground, she did not refute even a single sentence.

Mrs. Victoria's face was still wet with tears. She slowly walked towards Bertha, bending down slightly.

Rose was surprised. "Mom, do you know what you are doing? Why are you bowing to her?"

Mrs. Victoria still didn't care about Rose, she just looked straight at Bertha, her tone was heavy, she and spoke. "I'll apologize to you on behalf of Rose. Because she was so hurt, she spoke impolitely. I hope you can forgive her."

Bertha needed clarification.

Before now Mrs. Victoria had always been harsh towards her, why is she so unusual today?

"Rose is right, Derek's death is my responsibility, why don't you hate me?"

Two tears rolled down Mrs. Victoria's cheeks, smiled bitterly, quickly wiping away her tears. "Venn's right, if he made that choice, it's definitely because he loves you so much, I respect his decision."

Those words made Bertha's heart feel like it was crushed, extremely painful, and her nose suddenly felt stinging.

She clenched her hands to stop her tears from falling.

Mrs. Victoria took a letter from her bag with no recipient's name written on the envelope and gave it to Bertha. "This is his letter. He wants you to read it privately. Don't worry, I haven't looked at it yet."

Bertha's fingers trembled, and she took the letter.

Mrs. Victoria added. "You put it away, wait until you get home, and then read it."

Saying that she and Rose left the cemetery.

Bertha carefully put the letter in her bag, waited until everyone had gone home, then slowly walked into the cemetery, in front of Derek's tombstone.

On the stele, there is a small photo.

The rain fell heavily, causing the photo to have a few drops of water.

But Bertha could still recognize someone's handsome face that was both arrogant and cold.

It's Derek.

At that time, she searched both the villa and her phone but could not find any photos of him. She didn't expect to see it on his tombstone now.

She wiped the raindrops on the small photo over and over again, both gently and patiently.

This is the only man she loves deeply. From now on, she will never hear his voice again.

Bertha tried to hold back her tears, she didn't mind the rain and wind, she just sat and wiped the rain off his photo.

Venn saw her like that, he was heartbroken. "It's raining so hard, how can you clean the rainwater?"

Bertha's eyes showed stubbornness. "He's afraid of the cold and doesn't like being wet in the rain. I want to complete this one last thing for him."

Venn sighed helplessly. He proactively raised the black umbrella he was holding in his hand and gave it to her.

Bertha took it, opened the umbrella, and then carefully covered Derek's tombstone. She took a handkerchief and meticulously wiped every drop of water on his photo.

"You still love him, right?"

Bertha did not reply.

She thought she could strongly and decisively let go of her love for him. She walked resolutely without looking back even once.

If he were still alive, if after he and she divorced, the two would never see each other again, or maybe each would live a different, happier life.

But...

Fate always teases her.

This man died because of her.

Suddenly she felt that the previous hurts were no longer worth anything, her heart was probably about to explode from guilt.

She took a deep breath, trying to suppress the painful emotions in her soul.

The man never returns, what does it mean to say love or not?

She said softly. "Let's go."

Venn helped her up, he took Bertha's thin shoulder and they both left the cemetery.

After Bertha is brought back to the beach villa by Venn, the first thing she does is go into Derek's room, sit down in the chair he used to sit in, and look around his room.

Remembering the letter he wanted her to read privately, Bertha opened her bag and quickly found the letter with the pattern printed on it.

A few days ago she thought he wouldn't say goodbye to her, but now it seems like he finally couldn't stand it.

She slowly opened the letter and read it.

Her eyes immediately saw the first line of text.

"To my dear Bertha Griselda."

Bertha's hands trembled, she couldn't believe it when she saw her full name at the top of the letter.

He... already knew her true identity?

He already knew, so why a few days ago when she mentioned her third brother to annoy him, did he even pretend to be jealous?

Was he intentionally teasing her?
