Chapter 171

The man suddenly glanced at her, almost attracted by her big, innocent eyes.

This person angrily turned his head in another direction, he closed his eyes, not paying attention to her.

Their organization is extremely strict, if someone reveals their secret, their only option is death.

"You still don't say?"

Bertha smacked her lips, she said to the person next to her. "Let them go."

"Miss, they haven't said anything yet, are we letting them go?"

Bertha nodded, her expression serious.

The other two people still didn't understand what was going on. They were thrown into a black sack and then they were taken out of Venn's mansion by Venn's subordinates.

After the two assassins were released, Venn ran in and asked. 'Kid, why are you doing this?"

"You should find a few people to follow them. If someone wants to kill them, you must immediately save them."

If she let them go, the other organization would think that the two assassins had revealed the secret. According to their operating principles, they will kill two assassins to hide clues.

The more times that side acts, the easier it is for them to reveal their traces, which is more beneficial to her investigation.

Venn is a smart person, he immediately understood what she meant, and he sent someone to handle this.

Everything was arranged well, Bertha prepared to return to the beach villa.

Venn asked. "Bertha, please stay here for a few days. The food Aunt Jinna cooks is always to your taste. I will ask her to cook soup for you to nourish your health."

"No need, I'm fine."

She smiled then stood up and left.

Tyrone and Casey knew Bertha had returned, and they were extremely happy to welcome her.

"Hello, boss."

"Um."

Bertha glanced at the two of them.

Even though they tried to hide it, Bertha was still very smart, she realized something was unusual.

Casey was beaten more, his shirt collar still unable to cover the bruises and swelling on his neck.

"What's wrong with your neck?"

Casey immediately covered his neck with his hand, then he turned to look at Tyrone.

"I wasn't careful so I fell."

But why was he injured there?

The two of them bowed their heads and said nothing.

Bertha also didn't say anything, then she went into the living room of the villa.

As soon as she opened the door, she saw Derek coming downstairs.

The eyes of the two of them met.

Derek's fever had subsided, his body was still weak, his face was pale, and his eyes had no color at all.

Bertha also saw that his lips were a bit dry and white.

Why does he look so sick?

She frowned and stood at the door, not moving at all.

Derek saw that her expression was not good, he quickly went down and quietly got her a pair of slippers.

Bertha felt strange.

Didn't he say anything?

Today he wanted to change tactics so he pretended to be secretive.

Why did she not return after only two days but everyone here became so strange?

Bertha put on her slippers and looked at him.

She took off her coat and gave it to him.

Derek was stunned for a second, his long curled eyelashes drooped slightly, his handsome face pale.

He obediently took the coat that Bertha gave her, he helped her hang the coat on the clothes hanger.

From beginning to end, he never took the initiative to say a word, he was completely not as considerate as usual.

Bertha's expression became more and more gloomy.

Derek didn't feel it at all, he looked at the clock on the living room wall.

It's almost lunch.

He voluntarily prepared to go to the kitchen to cook.

Bertha sat on the sofa, her red lips were slightly raised. When she opened her mouth, her voice was both indifferent and cold.

'You come here."

Derek's broad back stiffened, and he obediently turned around and walked in front of her.

She didn't raise her head, her expression was a bit indifferent. "What happened to you?"

Derek stood still, he felt a bit awkward, because he found that her attitude towards him was always very cold.

Didn't Venn tell her that he saved her?

So Bertha came back today because he wanted revenge for him going to the charity party with Zillah?

He was originally thinking that he could do something to atone for his sins, but suddenly he felt upset and a little short of breath.

'Huh?"

Her voice was somewhat majestic but it still had the softness of a woman.

Bertha waited a little impatiently.

Derek was stunned for two seconds, one of his knees touched the ground, in front of her, his eyes were still downcast, his eyelashes trembling slightly.

Bertha felt that his mood was very inappropriate, and her heart was even more confused. She used her fingertips to gently lift his chin, forcing him to raise his face to look at her.

Four eyes looked at each other.

Derek's eyes were red, in his dark eyes was resentment and fragility that he tried to hide but couldn't.

He looked like he was being bullied by her, his expression was tired, and he looked very innocent.

Bertha's eyebrows frowned even deeper.

She still hasn't asked, why he seems like such a resentful person.

'What have you been doing these past two days? Looks like Mr. Venn said he wouldn't let you out. Why haven't you done any housework for the past two days?"

Derek pursed his thin lips tightly, he felt like his heart was being squeezed, and the pain made him unable to breathe.

Bertha lifted his chin a little more. 'Talk, are you mute?"

"Convalescence."

He spoke in a low, hoarse voice, with some resentment evident in his voice.

It's truly amazing.

Bertha smiled softly. 'What's wrong with your throat? What is your illness?"

"Fever."

He's in the villa, he hasn't gone out for two days, it hasn't rained, why does he have a fever?

Looking at his pale and haggard expression, she guessed that his fever had not been mild for the past two days.

Bertha guessed in her heart.

She let go of the hand holding his chin. 'Stop squatting, sit on the chair."

Derek stood up, he sat on the small sofa next to Bertha.

His whole body didn't have much strength left. He had just squatted for a while, his legs were starting to feel numb, and his head was a bit dizzy.

If he squatted for a while longer, he was afraid that he wouldn't be able to support it anymore.

Bertha raised her hand and poured herself a glass of water before continuing to ask. 'What are Tommy's injuries? Who hit him?"
